You making me feel monsters are real...

Totally loving and borderline obsessed with Sara Bareilles' new album, "Kaleidoscope Heart". From start to finish, this album had me bouncing in my seat, singing on the train, and dancing down the street... which is exactly what I want out of every listening experience. I'm on probably my 100th spin and there have only been two tracks I felt the need to skip over as to not decrease my enjoyment. As a follow up to her freshman album, "Little Voice", "Kaleidoscope Heart" gets an EPIC rating from me. Great record all around.

Standout tracks: Uncharted, Gonna Get Over You, King Of Anything, Let The Rain, Machine Gun, Bluebird.

Artist Management

I have been managing Syracuse indie-pop band, The Scarlet Ending, for the past few months. I have sent out countless blind emails, press kits, and friend requests. We secured an endorsement deal for Kayleigh with Daisy Rock Guitars. We have all been giving a pretty significant push over the past few weeks I've been involved - and yet, nothing significant has been paid back.

I know it's and endless, uphill struggle while waiting for that moment in which the band breaks and we're on to the next stage of their career... but how exactly DO you harness fans and use them to create a career with fierce endurance? We're booking shows, looking for reviews, looking for spins, keeping our social media presence up to date, attempting to engage the fan-base... and I think we're stuck.

I could use some ideas or references to websites, books, speakers I should be researching and informing myself on. How do we optimize our successes and keep pushing forward?

The Narrative

I'm on my 3rd spin of The Narrative's self titled full length album that was released yesterday, and I have no intention of stopping anytime soon. The entire album is amazing. It's beautifully written, and sucks you in till the end.. and if you are as blown away as I am, you start it all over again.

The musicianship, the harmonies and melodies, and the lyrical genius puts this record at the top of my 2010 best albums list, without a doubt. I assume if you are reading this that you know me and my impeccable taste in tunes, so you should probably go purchase the CD immediately. OR you can check it out on their various websites:

greetings from the abyss.

i suppose miserable weather is the reason for my purposeless post on my sad little blog. i'm 6 days in at my new job, things are getting easier by the day and my fingers are perpetually crossed in hopes of no downward spirals in my immediate future. but with stress alleviated in one aspect of my life, of course it's only natural that a different stress zones should make themselves known. 

i do enjoy that my fortune cookie today said, "you will always be surrounded by true friends". that put me at ease for the first time in a few days and it felt magnificent, even if it was only for a moment. recently some truly wonderful people have advanced into the forefront of my life and i feel blessed to have the variety of characters surrounding me.

2010 is off to a rocky start, but there have definitely been some highlights. i'm hopeful for more.
